Sunrise from Fale
|
Faofao Beach Fales is a locally run beach property in the quiet village of Faofao on the south east coast of Upolu. Run by a local family who live on property, we pride ourselves on our exceptional service and family hospitality. Our fales are situated alongside a long white sandy beach (polular with locals at weekends and holidays) with a restaurant, bar and shop across the road. Fales share communal bathrooms (one for the boys and one for the girls) located beside the main building. Tropical mountains back our property with splendid coastal walks.
Saturday night is our traditional dancing night including the famous Samoan fire dance performers, and Sunday, being our religious day of rest, we hold a traditional brunch cooked in an underground oven.
On-Site Activities:
Fia Fia / Fire Dancing - Saturday
Traditional Feast - Sunday
Nearby Attractions:

Getting There:
As most flights arrive in the early hours of the morning, the easiest way to get to Faofao is to spend your first night in Apia. Catch the Airport Shuttle Bus into Apia Town for ST$15 per person (meets all international arrivals - 40-minutes in mini coach - driver will drop you at requested hotel). Once in Apia, the best way to get to Faofao is to take the Green Turtle Tour which stops at Faofao every day. Green Turtle are based in Apia and depart each day at 8am from the Travellers' Lounge, or organise for them to pick you up from your hotel. Simply purchase your travel pass which enables you to hop-on and hop-off the bus as many times as you like during your stay and take a scenic and educational tour en-route.
A taxi direct to Faofao from the International Airport will cost about ST$150 (takes 2 hours) and from Apia Town about ST$100. Car rental is not available at the international airport as a Samoan driving license is required - these are only available from the licensing office opposite the Police Station in Apia.
It is possible to get to Faofao by public bus. Unfortunately frequencies are limited to just one or two a day and there is no set timetable. Catching a local bus is a fun experience, but perhaps one best left when you don't have your luggage with you - seats are cramped and buses often full!
