Lo'i and Sina, Your Hosts

Wood Carvers
|
Sina's Beach Fales is set in one of the most secluded and beautiful locations in Samoa. The remote village of Uafato, renowned for its skilled wood carvers, is set in a bay on the eastern side of Upolu beyond tar-sealed roads.
The two beach fales are hand built by your host, a renowned wood carver and are raised on stilts giving great ventilation and ocean views.
Meals are served in the family's traditional Samoan meeting house.
If you want to experience traditional Samoan culture and explore the natural protected rain forest, then Uafato is the place for you.

Getting There:
As most flights arrive in the early hours of the morning, the only way to get to Uafato is to spend your first night in Apia. Catch the Airport Shuttle Bus into Apia Town for ST$15 per person (meets all international arrivals - 40-minutes in mini coach - driver will drop you at requested hotel). Once in Apia, the best way to get to Uafato is to hire a 4-wheel drive car (dirt road to Fagalua Bay is steep, winding and narrow). Uafato is in an out of the way location with few public buses, but these can be found at the Apia bus stand.
A taxi direct to Uafato from Apia Town costa about ST$120 (takes about 1 hour 30 minutes). Car rental is not available at the international airport as a Samoan driving license is required - these are only available from the licensing office opposite the Police Station in Apia.
