Tanumatiu Beach Fales are located on the secluded western point of Savai'i. The semi-enclosed fales are located right on the beach and the shared bathroom (no flush toilet) is across the sandy road that passes through the quiet village.
Meals are provided by the local family in their house. The village shop provides basic provisions only.
This region is very quiet and traditional and is advisable only for those who can live under basic living standards.

Getting There:
Polynesian Airlines offers fights from Faleolo Intternational Airport on the north west coast of Upolu to Moata Airport, about five km from Salelologa Town on the south eastern tip of Savai'i. Cost is about ST$50 one way with five flights per day and take just 20 minutes offering aerial sightseeing on the way. Ferries depart Mulifanua Wharf on eastern Upolu five times a day, costing just ST$7 one way and taking 1 hour and 15 minutes. There's a twice daily fast ferry taking just 45-minutes and costing a couple dollars more.
The easiest way to get to Tanumatiu is to take the Green Turtle Tour which stops at the fales every day on request. Green Turtle are based in Salelologa and depart each day at 8am from Salelologa Wharf and from Manase at 9am. Simply purchase your travel pass which enables you to hop-on and hop-off the bus as many times as you like during your stay and take a scenic and educational tour en-route.
A taxi direct to Tanumatiu from Salelologa Wharf will cost about ST$120 (takes 2 hours and 30 minutes).
Car rental is best arranged from Apia and brought with you on the ferry.
There is no bus service to Tanumatiu.
