Beach off Matareva

Restaurant / Shop
|
Matareva Beach Fales are very basic with no electricity or lights and are good for those who have their own car and cooking facilities. Fresh water is not always available so it is wise to bring emergency supplies. Shared toilets and showers are basic and not always clean. However, this beautiful spot is popular with locals at weekends.

Getting There:
As most flights arrive in the early hours of the morning, the easiest way to get to Matareva is to spend your first night in Apia. Catch the Airport Shuttle Bus into Apia Town for ST$15 per person (meets all international arrivals - 40-minutes in mini coach - driver will drop you at requested hotel). Once in Apia, the best way to get to Maninoa is to hire a car. Matareva is in an out of the way location with no public bus or day tours passing by.
A taxi direct to Matareva from the International Airport will cost about ST$100 (takes about 1 hour 10 minutes) and from Apia Town about ST$70 (takes about 1 hour). Car rental is not available at the international airport as a Samoan driving license is required - these are only available from the licensing office opposite the Police Station in Apia.
